It is imperative that you get these materials to us as soon as you possibly can. If the tape or film is affected, then you can rinse in distilled or bottled water. The water must be pure. Tape water is not good as it contains chlorine, flourine and other chemicals that can be detrimental to recovery of the content. Do not leave the process too long or you may lose every chance of recovery. We have successfully recovered 100% of tapes that were in luggage that was dropped in the Great Barrier Reef as it was sent to us within about 4 weeks. However, tapes that were sent from Florida were left 6 months and then sent and we recovered nothing.
