Powerpoint to DVD Conversion requirements

Powerpoint to DVD Conversion Requirements
Powerpoint presentations are optimised for computers. DVDs are optimised for television. There are a number of differences between high resolution output for computers and low resolution output for television. Basically, computer resolution is far greater than television's resolution of 720 x 576 pixels (PAL). Also, normal televisions crop as much as 10% from around the edge (5% from each edge). This results in a number of consequences when converting from Powerpoint to DVD that need to be addressed in the design of your powerpoint presentation. These are as follow:
use minimum of 30 pt fonts
use sans serif (e.g. Arial, Helvetica) bold fonts
use white, yellow or bright grey text on a dark background
use no more than 4 or 5 lines of text per slide
use darker colours and greens and blues rather than reds
use simple graphics due to low resolution
use a 10% border around the edge
decide on an automated slide show or a step through presentation
if using an automated presentation, decide on music
decide on whether to keep/change transitions

Rather than use an existing powerpoint presentation, it may be better to create something new to take full advantage of this new media called DVD. There are two ways of taking your powerpoint to DVD. We can either transfer it as a number of still images or we can transfer it in its entirety, reformatted for the new media.

Also, ask us about high definition powerpoint to BluRay Productions.
